Indianapolis Children’s Choir to perform at Super Bowl 2012

WHEN: Sun. February 5, 2012 – immediately preceding kick-off at 6:29pm

WHERE: Lucas Oil Stadium, 500 South Capitol Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46225

WHAT: 45 young singers from the Indianapolis Children’s Choir (ICC) will perform The Star-Spangled Banner with national recording artist and Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson at Super Bowl XLVI. The singers will be conducted by ICC Founder and Artistic Director Henry Leck and Assistant Artistic Director Joshua Pedde.

The experience the conductors have with past performances at sporting events – including several NCAA Final Four games, the Indy 500 Festival, the 2004 FINA World Swimming Championships, and more – have prepared them well in how to train their young performers for the opportunity to perform on a world stage.

The excitement in the rehearsal room at Butler University in Indianapolis where the choir rehearses was palpable when the singers learned with whom they will be singing. Ms. Clarkson is a singer that they know and admire, and through their own vocal training can appreciate the work and accomplishments she has made as a recording artist. This will be a moment in their lives that they are certain to never forget.

ICC’s rise to the top of the children’s choral world runs parallel to the rise of Indianapolis as a global sports capital, with the ICC performing in the Indianapolis-hosted Pan American Games. It is fitting that these young singers are rewarded this unprecedented opportunity!
